Beach Driving Season

Vehicles with a proper Town permit (which costs $25), are allowed on the beach in both Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills from October 1st through April 30th each year. 

For more information on beach driving in Nags Head, please call Nags Head’s Town Hall at 252-441-5508. For more information on beach driving in Kill Devil Hills, please call their police department at 252-449-5537.

Driving on the Beach in Nags Head is Permitted From October 1 Through April 30

Permits are available at the following locations:

  • Nags Head Town Hall

    • From 8:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Kill Devil Hills Town Hall
    102 Town Hall Drive
    Kill Devil Hills NC 27948
    • From 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Nags Head tackle shops
